I've had several episodes, recently, of trying to troubleshoot problems at support web sites that don't accept "tiff" files. I am looking for an app that lets me choose output formats within the app. PS: I'm trying to do this, in part, because it appears that the "Grab" Utility only writes "tiff" files. Blocking the path entirely means 'my' Security settings are no longer 'mine'. I can understand, and don't mind, that Apple might plant an obstacle in my path, to encourage second thoughts about what I'm about to install. What's the story? Has Apple decided I can't be trusted to choose software for my own computer? Or am I missing another path to installing "unknown publisher" software?Įl Capitan allows me to override 'my' security settings in the System Prefs. Discovered that the option to override System Preferences seems to be gone. Tried to install it from the publisher download. Checked at the App Store not available there. Tried to install a very interesting screen capture app found on MacUpdate. High Sierra - Install app by unknown publisher? Recent upgrade to High Sierra from El Capitan. If I do re-install Bitdefender, it won't be until after I've figured out how to prevent it throwing up the roadblock it made for Graphic Converter. This had no effect on Graphic Converter's ability to save. To make sure Full Disk Access was not the issue I un-checked Graphic Converter's Full Disk Access in Security and Privacy, quit and relaunched. With Bitdefender out of the picture, I was able to save with Graphic Converter. So I went ahead and uninstalled Bitdefender (per instructions on their website). I did notice that with the Full Disk Access set for Graphic Converter, the save attempts were also generating a banner from Bitdefender. Quit and relaunched Graphic Converter, but still got the privileges error above. Next, on the developer's advice, I added Graphic Converter to list of applications with Full Disk Access in the Security & Privacy preference pane's Privacy tab. So this particular privileges issue does not extend to that application. However, the same file could be saved/exported with Preview. Just the other day, I opened an image file in Graphic Converter but was unable to save it, and I got an error message that said I didn't have sufficient privileges. I have been a user of Graphic Converter for at least a decade and Bitdefender off and on for the last three. This note is related to Graphic Converter v.10 running on iMac under macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) and its interactions with Bitdefender's Anti Virus for Mac.
